HOW CUB SCOUTS WORKS
In Cub Scouting, you and your family join in on the program with your Cub Scout, and you will help them along the way. Cub Scouts have a different handbook at each grade level filled with age-appropriate adventures. As your Cub Scout advances through their adventures, they will earn badges and other recognition that they wear on their uniform.
The Cub Scouting program takes place at two levels, the den and the pack. Your Cub Scout will be a part of a den, a small group of Cub Scouts in the same grade level. A den meets 2-3 times month. For Lion and Tiger dens (kindergarten and first grade), it is mandatory that at least one parent or guardian attended each event with your Cub Scout. For the other dens it is strongly encouraged to stay at the meeting to get involved with your Cub Scout’s learning.
All the dens, from kindergarten through fifth grade, make up a pack. Once a month, the dens, with their families, come together at the pack meeting where Cub Scouts are recognized for the achievements, activity badges, and advancement they have earned and participate in special activities such as camping and pinewood derby.
